Child & Adolescent Clinical Psychology
Specializing in Specific Neurodevelopmental & Related Needs
I specialize in clinical psychology for children and youth who have one or more of the following neurodevelopmental and related needs:
- Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Autism with Support Needs Fitting with Weekly (or Less Frequent) Therapy
- Emotional Disorders: Panic Attacks, Phobias, Depression, and Generalized, Social, or Separation Anxiety
- Sleep Problems including those caused by problematic internet use
- Dysregulation, Inflexibility, or Defiance, which can arise from struggles with any of the above
- Tics & Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (e.g., hair-pulling, nail-biting, and skin-picking)
My services do not fit with the following needs, which are best served by other specialties, usually within a large multi-disiplinary team:
- legal or custody issues
- serious substance use problems
- complex trauma
- eating disorders
- autism requiring substantial supports (e.g., intensive therapies, ABA, a specialized classroom in school, more than about an hour per week with a special education teacher in the learning center, etc.)
- youth who cannot tolerate attending sessions at my office or on

Experienced Professional
You Can Get to Know and Trust
Simply put, I offer personalized care and attention, a refreshing contrast to large group practices where your child can feel like they’re visiting a clinic. When you work with me, you’re just “going to see David”, a familiar face you’ve come to know and trust.

Prioritizing Skill‑Building & Improvements
To Get Your Child Out of Therapy
Therapy and psychological evaluation can be great investments in your child’s future, particularly when the goal is building skills to put your child on a path to thriving and no longer needing therapy. I definitely get to know my clients well as I listen to your concerns and work with you toward your goals, but we’re not deeply exploring your child’s inner self for years and years—if you want that, there are people in Portland doing that, and it’s probably not covered by insurance. That’s just not me; I focus on skill-building aimed at setting you and your child up to continue seeing improvements beyond the end of a course of services with me.
